talk interactive to me

Worthing and Moncrieff, LLC is an independent developer of video games founded in 2015. What? You've never heard of us? Well pull up a stool my friend, and we’ll tell you a story. No, seriously, that’s what we do. We’re story-tellers and our medium of choice is digital games. We draw on the traditions of live theatre, classic mystery novels, board games, Victorian music, literature, architecture, typography, classic sci-fi — you name it. So grab a tablet, a laptop, or your favorite bit of gaming hardware and let’s talk stories.

We released our first title, “A Matter of Murder,” in April of 2016. Since then, it’s appeared in festivals and showcases from Boston to San Francisco including the 2016 Google Play Indie Festival, one of only thirty games to be invited to participate. “Austen Translation,” a satirical strategy game set in a Jane Austen-inspired universe, was released on May 1, 2018. “Austen” was featured in both the 2017 and 2018 Boston Festival of Independent Games and IndieCade 2018. Our Bose-AR Enabled audio-only game — “OverHerd,” which was developed as part of the Playcrafting and Bose Boston Game Jam —was released in 2019. The team is currently hard at work on their next title — “HRO: Adventures of a Human Resources Officer,” with a 2022 release date to be announced.

Zounds! One of the guests at an English house party has fallen victim to cold-blooded murder. Your weekend in the country is ruined! What choice have you but to ask your fellow guests probing questions, search the house, draw astonishingly insightful conclusions and solve the crime?

In OverHerd you play an English nobleman in charge of an over-enthusiastic catapult unit. Your assignment? Demolish the wall of your enemy’s castle by firing livestock at it. The challenge? You have to do it in the dark of night using only sound to guide you. If you score three hits before sunrise, the enemy walls will be breached and your army will be able to  successfully assault the castle!

Worthing & Moncrieff’s second title is a satirical strategy game called “Austen Translation.” Think Jane Austen meets the Dating Game with a dash of Flintstones thrown in. It’s a tongue-in-cheek riff on caustic literary rivalries, appalling preconceptions of the roles of women and men, and, of course, the unending quest to marry well.

HRO: Adventures of a Humanoid Resources Officer is a puzzle-driven visual novel set in a retro-futuristic sci-fi universe. You play the underappreciated Humanoid Resources Officer aboard the Endeavor — a military spaceship with more than its fair share of crew rivalries, office politics, and erratic decision-makers. When the Endeavor stumbles into universe-shaking trouble, can you harness the power of the bureaucracy to rein in your crew’s worst impulses and survive to the next episode?

HRO Launch Date TBA

As we move into the last development stages of  “HRO: Adventures of a Humanoid Resources Officer” we're working hard to identify the ideal release date. Lots to do!  Stay tuned for future developments.
